I’m surprised no exchange is using smart-contracts to pair any two coins.

Unless I'm missing something it seems like exchanges could use smart contracts to pair any 2 coins for trading. Simply utilize something like USDT, ETH, BTC, or a high volume coin to act as a middle point to make trades between any two pairs.

So if I want to do a LINK/ARK pairing, a contract might say, "Create purchase order for LINK to USDT at X price, if fulfilled, create purchase order for USDT to ARK at X price".

Obviously, situations could occur where you are stuck with the "in-between coin", but it seems easily doable.

I wonder why no exchanges are doing this. I'd jump all over an exchange I could trade any two coins. And while I'm not a day trader, it could bring big value to day traders.
