Futures is usually seen as something bullish, but doesn’t it give an incentive to whales to dump the market temporarily?

Bitcoin futures has been here for a while now, pretty much this entire bear market, but people are still making money because they bet against Bitcoin. If someone has the ability to dump the market temporarily, which many whales do, wouldn’t they just use that power to temporarily dump the price and then close the short when they’re done selling? That puts us in a cycle of pumps and dumps like we’ve seen and keeps us in bear territory.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m not an expert on market economics. (Also, keep in mind the downvote button isn’t for people who ask questions, because that tends to happen a lot on this subreddit.)
